Welcome to Advanced Portfolio
You can sort by any column in the transaction or holdings table by clicking the column header. Repeated clicking of the column header will toggle between an ascending and descending sort.
To turn off the sort and have the symbol go back in the order you entered them, right click in the transaction or holdings window and select "Turn Sort Off".
Control which Columns are Visible
Left click the chooser in either the transaction or holdings window.
This will bring up the Field Chooser where you can click which columns are visible in the table.
Right Click in the window and choose "Print" to print the window.
Auto Size Column - Right click the transaction or holdings window and choose "Size Columns" to pack all the columns as tight as possible to minimize space.
Manually Size Columns - Move the mouse between column headers until the cursor changes to a vertical line then hold the left mouse button done and move the border between the columns back and forth. Release the left mouse button when you have positioned it where you want.
Turn Toolbars Off/On
You can get additional space in the window by turning off toolbars, right click to toggle on/ off the window toolbar or the slideshow toolbar.
Turning off all the toolbar allows to pack the window space tighter.
Get Reports on Transaction or Holdings Table Symbols
An easy way to look up information on any symbol is to right click on a symbol and select a report.
Clicking on one of these reports will bring up the information on the symbol under the mouse when you right clicked.
Linking the Portfolio
A new portfolio will be linked to the active chart but you can control which charts are linked to the portfolio. You can call up the link menu by using "Right Click Menu" ==> "Link" or click "Link" in the top menu. This will bring up the link window.
Click on the charts you want to link to the Portfolio. The names in the link window will match the names in the chart window title bars. When you have linked the window you want with a check mark, click close.
Viewing Charts on Symbols in the Portfolio
Click the Symbol - The easiest way to get a chart is to just click the symbol in the transaction or holdings window with the left mouse button.
The linked chart(s) will change to the clicked symbol.
Drag and Drop the Symbol - This does not use the linked chart list, so you can use this If you want to change a single chart whether linked or not. Hold the left mouse button down over the row header of the symbol you want to use. The cursor will change to a cross when you can left click and use the drag and drop.
While holding the left mouse button down drag the mouse over a the chart you want to change and then drop the symbol by releasing the left mouse button. The chart will change to the dropped symbol.
Use the Space Bar - This only works for the holdings window. If you press the space bar on the keyboard while in the holdings window, the active row in the holdings window will move to the next symbol and then display it in the linked charts.
Use the VCR controls in the Slideshow Toolbar - This only works for the holdings window. First turn on the slideshow toolbar by right clicking in the portfolio list window and selecting "Toolbars" ==> "Toggle Slideshow Toolbar". You can move around the list with mouse using these buttons.
The buttons are described in the order they appear in the toolbar.
First - Clicking this button will move the active row to the first symbol in the list and display it in the chart.
Previous - Clicking this button will move the active row to the previous symbol in the list and display it in the chart.
Next - Clicking this button will move the active row to the next symbol in the list and display it in the chart.
Last - Clicking this button will move the active row to the last symbol in the list and display it in the chart.
Run a Slideshow
The last three buttons and the number box on the slideshow toolbar will run an automated slideshow.
Play - This will start the slideshow. The first symbol will be shown in the linked charts, then the program will wait the number of seconds in the number box, then request the next symbol in the list. This will continue until the complete list has been requested.
Stop - This will stop the automatic display of charts by Play.
Pause - This the temporarily stop the automatic display of charts by Play. Pressing play will resume the slideshow from where it was paused.
Seconds - This box is number of second to wait between requesting the next chart in the list.
Welcome to Transferring Portfolio Symbols to a Watchlist
Place the mouse over the blue square in the portfolio manager (the cursor will change to the cross meaning you can drag and drop).
Hold the left mouse button down and move the mouse into the portfolio window until the cursor changes.
Release the left mouse button and it will add all the symbols from the portfolio window.
Copy the Transaction or Holdings Window to Excel
You can copy the transaction or holdings window to Microsoft Excel. Right click in the grid and select "Export" ==> "Export Table to Excel". A save dialog box will appear, just select the default file name or enter your own and click save. You can also change the subdirectory at this point if you wish. After the excel file saves it will launch Microsoft Excel if you have it on your computer.
Sharing a Portfolio
Sharing is an important part of the program and there are a number of ways to share a portfolio.
Copy to Chat - Right click in the portfolio window and select "Export" ==> "Copy to Chat", this will create a permanent link in chat that anyone in the chat channel can click on and get a copy of the portfolio. This link will remain and can be found in chat history.
Copy Portfolio to a Forum or Blog - Right click and select "Export" ==> "Copy Portfolio to Forum and Blog". Now when you are writing a blog or forum you can select paste and a link will be added to the web text. When anyone clicks on that link from within the program it will launch and show the portfolio. If anyone clicks on the link from a separate browser nothing will happen.
Customizing the Table Appearance
You can customize the look of the portfolio tables if you want by right clicking and selecting table properties.
Here you can change the colors of the main table. If you wish to change the buy and sell colors, click buy/sell colors in the preferences window, scroll to the bottom and change table buy, sell or neutral colors.
