Welcome to Customizing with Preferences

 

The program can be customized a number of way to make the program work more the way you want it to.  To open preferences click "Menu Circle" ==> "Preferences".

 

 

Program Setup

 

The preferences opens with Program Setup as the default selection in the left list. These are the major setup options for the program.

 

 

Data Feed - These are the data feeds supported by the program. 

 

  • eSIgnal- Primary US real time feed.
  • Tradezone Data Center - Primary real time Brazilian feed.
  • DDF - real time feed.
  • Open Tick - real time feed.
  • TCNet - non real time US feed with Daily, Weekly, and Monthly history.
  • Yahoo - non real time US feed with Daily, Weekly, and Monthly history.

 

Graphics Display Type

 

  • DirectX Off - This is the primary display mode and uses Microsoft gdi graphics display.
  • DirectX Flat - This will draw faster but 1) uses much more memory, 2) does not work well on all graphics cards, 3) requires installing some additional Microsoft files and 4) does not support alpha transparency.
  • DirectX 3D - this is just like the DirectX Flat but all lines and candles are plotted as 3D cylinders.

 

Language

 

  • Default - The program will default to either English or Portuguese depending on the language setup in the operating system.
  • English - Forces the program to be in English no matter what the operating system is set for.
  • Portuguese - Forces the program to be in Portuguese no matter what the operating system is set for.

 

Tab Orientation - Determines where the main program tabs are placed in the main window.

 

Theme Display - This will determine the color and shading of the entire program.  When you change this theme the program will instantly change.

 

Theme Printing - This determines the theme to be used for printing.  This is important because if you are using a black based theme you don’t want your printer using up all its black ink printing backgrounds.  So the printing theme is usually set to a white background theme.

 

General

 

 

Ask To Save Workspace

 

  • True - Every time you change workspaces you will be asked if you want to save the old workspace.
  • False - You will never be asked to save the old workspaces when changing workspaces.

 

Auto Size Columns

 

  • True - Tables column will be sized occasionally to maintain a the smallest columns widths without hiding data.
  • False - Determining the width of a column in a table will be up to you to manually size the column with the splitter between the columns.

 

Border Width - Determines how wide the border is around a chart in pixels.

 

Color Title Bars By Price Change

 

  • True - Chart window titles will be colored green if today's price is up from yesterday and red if the net is down.
  • False - Do not color chart title by price change for the day.

 

Default Number of Bars - This is how many bars will be requested for each chart.  The number of bars in the chart will be this number or the actually amount of data returned by the data vendor whichever if less.  The more bars you use the more memory will be used for each chart.

 

Display Error in an Alert Box

 

  • True - This is for tracing down a bug only.  This will show any exceptions in a message box..
  • False - Handle exceptions within the program and don’t  bother me.

 

See Results In

 

  • New Chart Window - When clicking on a symbol in the Prism, Optimizer, or Alerts, open a new chart window and display the results in it.
  • Active Chart Window -  When clicking on a symbol in the Prism, Optimizer, or Alerts, display the chart in the current active chart window.  Clicking the left mouse button in a chart will make it the active chart window.

 

Show Color Bar Popups in Chart

 

  • True -You will get a popup in the chart when the mouse rolls over a color bar.
  • False - Do not show color bar popups.

 

Show Crosshair Labels

 

  • True -When using the crosshair on a chart it will show the price and date.
  • False - The crosshair will not show price or date.

 

Show Info Window in Full Screen

 

  • True -When double clicking in a chart to expand it to full screen, the info window will open in full screen mode and will close again when the chart returns to normal size.
  • False - Don’t automatically open the info window when the chart is double clicked to full screen size.

 

Show Row Numbers

 

  • True -All Tables will show row number in the row headers.
  • False - All Tables will not show row number in the row headers.

 

Show Support Resistance in Full Screen

 

  • True -When double clicking in a chart to expand it to full screen, the Support Resistance will open in full screen mode and will close again when the chart returns to normal size.
  • False - Don’t automatically open the Support Resistance when the chart is double clicked to full screen size.

 

Show Row Numbers

 

  • True -All charts will show the chart state and study title in the chart .  This is very useful because the study title have right click menus with lots of options.
  • False - Turn off the study titles, this will increase the amount of chart space but you will lose the study title right click menus.

 

Slide Show Continuous Loop

 

  • True -Once a slide show is started on a list, it will keeping loading the next symbol every few seconds and wont stop till the stop button is clicked..
  • False - Once a slideshow is started it will go through all the symbols in a list until it has shown all the symbols once and then will automatically stop.

 

Data Feeds

 

 

Auto Fill Chart

 

  • True -During trading hours a bar will be created for every bar time even if the stock doesn’t trade.  The missing bar will have a high. Low. Close equal to the prior bar close and the volume will be zero.  This keeps time dependent studies accurate and allows better comparison between active and non active charts.
  • False - If a stock doesn’t trade during a bar interval during market hours it wont have a bar on the chart.

 

Brazil Trading Day Begins - Start of the trading day on the Brazil exchange.

 

Brazil Trading Day Ends - End of the trading day on the Brazil exchange.

 

Cache Stock Charts

 

  • True -Once all the data has been retrieved form a data source it will be saved locally so the next request doesn’t have to request as much data.  Helps to speed up slow data services. 
  • False -Every request for history to the data service will request the entire  history.

 

Chart Update Delay - This is how often a chart will be allowed to redraw in milliseconds.  The smaller this number the more computer cpu the program will use.  The higher the number the less often the chart will redraw with the new data.  This only applies to redrawing the chart.  All trades are recorded by the program no matter what the setting is.

 

DDF Chart type - This determines how futures are organized in the DDF futures feed.

 

London Trading Day Begins - Start of the trading day on the London exchange.

 

London Trading Day Ends -End of the trading day on the London exchange.

 

Show Futures Always with Extended Trading

 

  • True -The extended trading button will be ignored in the program and future will always show all their data.. 
  • False -Future will only show trading during stock exchange trading start and end.  You must click extended trading to see all the futures data.

 

US Trading Day Begins - Start of the trading day on the US exchange.

 

US Trading Day Ends -End of the trading day on the US exchange.

 

Use eSignal Record Update for Quotes

 

  • True -The program will use the last quote sent by eSignal even if it from a prior day. 
  • False -The program will only use a quote sent by eSIgnal if it comes in real time.

 

Default Chart

 

 

This determines how a chart will be setup and what the initial symbol and timespan will be  when a new chart window is opened.  The properties are self explanatory.

 

Display

 

 

Chat Font Size - Since the chat window is basically and internet explorer browser, the size of the font is determined by html size.  The html font size varies from 1-7.

 

DirectX Chart Font Size - If using the Directx flat or 3D chart mode, this will determine the size of the font in the chart.

 

Display Decimal - This will determine how many decimal places to show price numbers in the tables throughout the program.  The number can beset  between 0-4 decimals or you can just let if float and it will show how many decimals there are up to 4.

 

Draw Text Font - This is the size of the font using in the draw text draw tool.

 

Font Chart - This is the type, size, and style font information for the font used in the chart in Directx Off mode.

 

Font Chart - This is the type, size, and style font information for the chat window for everything besides the main chat window.

 

Font Popup - This is the type, size, and style font information for the popups in the chart.

 

Font Tables - This is the type, size, and style font information for all the tables in the program such as watchlist, prism, info window, etc.

 

Price Scale Location - This determine where the price scale on a chart appears.

 

  • Right Side - The scale appear on the right side of the chart.
  • Left Side - The scale appears on the left side of the chart.
  • Both - The scale appears on both sides of the chart.

 

Scale Value Decimal - This will determine how many decimal places to show price numbers in the scale on the chart.  The number can be set between 0-4 decimals or you can just let if float and it will show how many decimals there are up to 4.

 

Side Bar Number - When plotting a side bar study, this will determine how many bars to spread the data over.

 

Space on Right of Chart - This is the amount of space between the right side of the chart and the scale in pixels.

 

Info Window

 

 

Color Values By Line Color 

 

  • True -Render the study values in the info window in the same color as their respective chart line. 
  • False -Render all the study values in the info window in the theme table text color .

 

Display Study Values - This describe how to sort the study values in the info window

 

  • Don't Sort Study Values - Display the study values in the order the studies were added to the chart.
  • Sort Study Values by Price - This will sort all the study values by price and put in the last trade so you can see what triggers or support/resistance there are above and below the price.
  • Sort Study Values by Category - This will sort the studies first by type, i.e. all EMAs together, then by price.

 

Display Time in 24 Hour Mode

 

  • True -Render the time in the info window from 0 to 24 hours. 
  • False -Render the time in the info window from 0 to 12 hours with AM and PM.

 

Info Window Width - This is the default width of the info window in pixels every time it if opened.

 

Show Candle Trends

 

  • True -Show the latest candle trend, i.e. was the last candle a higher high and higher low. 
  • False -Don’t show the latest candle trend.

 

Show Prices

 

  • True -Show the open, high, low, close, and volume in the info window. 
  • False -Don’t show price in the info window.

 

Show Study Values

 

  • True -Show the values of all the study lines in the info window. 
  • False -Don’t show the values of all the study lines in the info window.

 

Prism

 

 

Mark Changed Candles

 

  • True -Add an asterisk to a prism cell long or short to signify it changed in the last candle. 
  • False -Don’t mark the prism cell long or short titles with an asterisk.

 

Prism Flat Description - If a prism study has a non buy or sell condition it will be labeled with this value.

 

Prism Name to Total - The prism percent long summaries will count any prism cell titles with this title in its total long.

 

Show Study With Chart on Mouse Click - This determines how a prism cell study will be plotted on a chart when the prism cell is left mouse clicked.

 

  • Symbol Timespan Study - Plot the prism cell symbol, the timespan, and the study on the chart.
  • Symbol Timespan - Plot the prism cell symbol and the timespan but don’t add the study, use the current template.
  • Symbol - Just use the current template in the chart and change the symbol to the value in the prism cell.

 

Alerts

 

 

Alert Reset - This determines how to reset an alert after it goes off.

 

  • Turn Off - After an alert goes off, turn off the trigger and wait for the user to choose an option on the alert
  • Flip Alert - Automatically flip the alert to the trigger on the opposite case and wait for the user to choose an option on the alert.

 

Default Alert Sound - This is the default sound that will be setup each time you request a new alert. 

 

Portfolio

 

 

Portfolio History Update Interval - This is how often to update the charts for a portfolio when the program is open.
