Welcome to Linking
Unlike sharing which is a line connection between the person sharing and the person connected to the share, linking make a copy of a window and saves it historically in a link. Anyone can later click on that link and view the window.
The following can be linked - Chart, Search, Watchlist, Quotelist, Prism, Theme, Study, Portfolio, and an alert.
Adding a Chat Link
Chart - Right Click in a chart window and select "Copy Chart To Chat".
A copy of the current chart will be linked in Chat
Anytime a user in the chat channel clicks on the link they will get a copy of the chart you linked.
Watchlist - Right click in a watchlist "Right Click Menu" ==> "Export" ==> "Copy to Chat".
Quotelist - Right click in a quotelist "Right Click Menu" ==> "Export" ==> "Copy to Chat".
Prism - Right click in a prism "Right Click Menu" ==> "Export" ==> "Copy to Chat".
Search - Right click in a search "Right Click Menu" ==> "Export" ==> "Copy Search to Chat".
Study - Right click on a study title in Build/Edit Studies left window and select "Copy Study to Chat".
Theme - Open the preferences window, select the theme you want to link in "Program Setup" ==> "Theme- Display", then click "Copy Theme to Chat" in the window top menu.
Portfolio - Right click on a portfolio name in the portfolio window and select "Export" ==> "Copy to Chat"
Alert - Right click on an alert name in the alert window and select "Export" ==> "Copy Alert to Chat"
Adding a Forum or Blog Link
You start this exactly the same way as copying a link to chat except you choose "Copy to Forum or Blog" This will add a copy of the window to the clipboard. When you are in the editor for typing for a forum or blog message you can right click and select paste or press "Ctrl V" to add the link to your text. When your done with the message save the post.
First, if anyone clicks on this link using a browser no inside the program nothing will happen. However, if a user clicks on the link when inside the program, it will launch the window, study, or theme that was linked.
This can be very useful for listing a set of common templates, studies, etc that everyone in the team should have access to.
Clicking on a Link
When you click on a link it will open a window and fill the window with a copy of the original window. The one exception to this is a study link. When you click on a study link it will load the study into your program and will show a message box telling you if it was successfully loaded.
However, if you already have a study with the same name you will get the following dialog.
Yes - This overwrite the study you currently have and replace it with the new study.
No- This will open a window to type in a new name for the study, the new study will be saved with the new name.
Cancel - Don’t load this study at all.
